My personal website is back up – but not updated. Everything is out of date and out of whack – this is due to not touching this website since I merged my name with my current band, The Good Hurt. We were James Lanman and The Good Hurt from 2010-Current- but from here on out we are dividing the names so they can be their own projects. This website will(eventually) feature my solo music and the band will feature our blend of Indie/Pop/Rock/Alternative! Read Below for our formal announcement of this division!

We needed to adjust our name to accordingly represent what we have become as a band – not a singer songwriter with studio musicians, not a marriage of two separate projects – just a band, The Good Hurt. While the name has changed on paper – we’re still and will continue to be the exact same band that came to be in 2010 as James Lanman and The Good Hurt – but now James can have his name back and use it for his burgeoning career as a celebrity in the virtual reality game, Second Life.

James came up to Seattle in July 2009 with the intention of taking an already promising solo career to the next level by forming a band. It was at this time James learned how to write in the third person to make announcements seem more grandiose. James likes presents.

After meeting members of what became ‘the band’, James put his solo career on the back burner and followed the momentum the band was gaining and rightly so – to date they’ve toured across the country, garnered a national Scandinavian insurance commercial, sold out shows across the West Coast, captured Osama Bin Laden and are about to record and release their debut album as a band – their first full length album.
Over the course of the past two years – the band became more than it was originally intended to be – the four of them became great friends, traded off wearing the travelling pants every other week and began to become a cohesive amoeba of forward moving musical motion. The sound began to take on a life of its own and they reached a point of no return where they find themselves only months away from the release of a career defining album and almost two years of non stop work are at a crossroads. They have decided to evolve. It’s not a split – its mitosis. Why am I writing in the third person?

Here is how this is going down – this fan page will be for James Lanman – the world class masseuse/singer-songwriter/internationally recognized taxidermist. THIS page – which we’ve conveniently just put up for your convenience – will be for the band, THE GOOD HURT – formally (James Lanman and The Good Hurt). Think of it as a re-gift… if you liked us before as a band – you’ll love us even more as the EXACT same band but with a modified name! Please go to that page – click the ‘like’ button and suggest to friends – meanwhile – I’ll be putting out friendly reminders to do so over the course of the next few weeks while we get this album ready for release!
